There is something special about December in Madeira. The air gets a little crisper, the lights of Funchal begin to twinkle, and the anticipation of the holidays brings people closer together.
On December 15th, I had the immense pleasure of hosting a special Exhibition and Creative Evening at the wonderfully named Casa dos Amigos (House of Friends). The goal was simple yet profound: to step away from the solitude of the studio and connect with the vibrant community of Funchal in a warm, friendly circle.
A Meeting of Minds and Souls
The evening was dedicated not just to viewing paintings, but to the stories behind them. It was a privilege to introduce my works — from the dreamlike silence of my Surrealism collection to the dynamic energy of the Marine Landscapes — to a diverse group of guests.
Residents of Funchal, both locals and international neighbors, came together to discuss art, philosophy, and the beauty of our island home.
The Venue: Casa dos Amigos
The location could not have been more perfect. Casa dos Amigos provided an intimate, welcoming atmosphere that transformed a standard art exhibition into a gathering of friends. Surrounded by art and good company, we shared ideas and inspiration in the run-up to the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Grateful for the Connection
For an artist, a painting is never truly finished until it meets the eyes of a viewer. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended. Your questions, your interpretations, and your smiles brought a new life to my canvas.
These meetings are the fuel for future creativity. If you missed this event, do not worry — there are more to come. Art is a journey, and I am glad to have you all traveling with me.
This event was later mentioned in a local TV program dedicated to art in Madeira. You may watch it by following this link.
